Oaklands School Learning Qualities

Oakland School Learner Qualities
Be Self Aware (Excellence Value): SML tasks

E
Be self aware
I know my learning goals.
I know how I learn best.
Think about and reflect on:
  • How have I been managing my time with completing my SML Tasks? good
  • How well have I been completing them? Not very well
  • Have I been completing my MUST Dos each week? no
  • Have I been organised enough to complete bonus tasks? no

What is my learning goal?
IALT manage my time well so I complete all my “MUST Do” SML Tasks each week
What has been going well?
Something that has been going well is completing my reading and writing activities every week.
What have I been learning to do to get the tasks done?
Doing some at home and not talking to my friends while learning.
Which tasks have I completed well?  Why?
My reading and writing activities because if I get stuck I ask the teacher or one of my classmates for help.
Which tasks have been challenging?  Why?
My maths because sometimes the questions are hard and it takes me a while to figure them out.
What are some other bonus tasks I would like to do?
Word searches and crosswords
My next step is……..
My next step is to complete my SMLs every week and get into group tahi.

Art attack

WALT create an artist inspired piece of artwork.
Artist: Raewyn Harris

The goal was to create a piece of art that included patterns and a koru. I included leaves and patterns so that I could use different colours. I learnt how to use complementary colours. Complementary colours are colours that are opposite each other on the colour wheel.

Something that I learnt to do was how to draw in chalk and then dye my art. It was the first time I had ever used chalk when creating art.

My next step is to and more colour to faded sections.

Music

WALT to compose and create a rap (with beat if possible) about bully.

I went about achieving this by working with my group to think of ideas.
The resources I used to make my rap were my own and my groups ideas.
I collaborated with other people to get through the process.
I found the process not to hard because I could think of ideas but I didn't know how to word them.
The thing I most enjoyed about the process of creating a rap sharing ideas with my group.
My next step might be to add more lines.

This is our rap

Trying to be cool on my way to school so my classmates don't call me a fool.
I say hi but they say nice try.
You give me a smack on the back so hard that I hear it crack.
You're so mean to me I just want to be free.
You make me ache I wish I was fake.
You say my name you don't want to take the blame.
You just wanna claim to take the fame.
STOP BULLYING

Multiplication and division term 3

Multiplication

My goal is to use rounding to solve multiplication problems.

I have learned how to round numbers up to a tidy number to help me

Example:
18 x 5 =

I can round the 18 to 20
20 x 5 = 100
2 x 5 = 10
100 - 10 = 90
This is some of my multiplication work.

Division

My learning goal is to solve division problems with remainders.

I have learned how to use my times tables to help me solve division problems by thinking about how many times a number goes into another number.

Example:
44 ÷ 7 = 6 r 2
7 x 6 = 42
So 7 goes into 44 6 times with 2 remaining

This is some of my division work

My next learning goal is to learn my times tables more so that I know them up to the 10 times table.

Maths - Measurement

WALT - find the area and perimeter of common shapes.
ide length of a shape.
Perimeter - The perimeter is the outside length of a shape. You find the perimeter of a shape by adding the lengths around the shape.

Area - The is how much you can fit into a shape. You find the area by multiplying the length x width.

Example - If you had a rectangle that was 4cm by 2cm.
The perimeter would be 12cm - P = 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 = 12
The area would be 8cm squared - A = 4 X 2 = 8

Area- the area how much you can fit into a shape.
Example- if you had a rectangle that was 4 by 4 and 2 by 2 the perimeter would be 12 and the area would 8
