Mother of dragons

When the dragon had hatched, crawling out of its shell onto her bed, Zoya knew that her life would never be the same again.
She had brought the dragon far away from her village; away from the people who would hurt it and take it away from her. As she held it in her hands, feeling its claws affectionately digging into her fingers through her gloves, Zoya knew that exactly what she had to do. What they had to do. Together.
The dragon gazed at her. She could see the flames burning within its eyes. It was totally dependant on her, as a new-born child is to its mother. And yet, strangely, she felt dependant upon the dragon as well; dependant upon what it was and what it would become in time.
They would become inseparable. Their futures were entwined. Their adventures were only just beginning…

Zoya woke up in the little hut, her and flame had met two years ago when Zoya found an egg. Zoya was 14 years old and had gone for a walk in the forest and found an egg sitting on a pile of rocks. Zoya picked up the egg, put it in her backpack and ran home, on her way home she grabbed handfuls of grass to make a nest. Zoya and flame went hunting everyday and also started teaching flame how to fly. One year later Flame was flying around with Zoya on his back. Zoya and flame had a lot of fun flying around and being silly, but one day the king sent his army up the hill to kill flame. It was night and zoya and flame were sitting in their hut when suddenly flames ears went up and Zoya knew that whenever his ears went up something was wrong. Zoya looked out the window and saw the royal army's torches. Zoya and flame ran out the back door and headed for their hidden cave in the side of the hill.

cultural week

WHAT: I was involved in a range of learning experiences for Multicultural week. We learnt about Russia, Israel and we learnt how to use chopsticks to pick up jellybeans.

SO WHAT:
I learnt that in Russia if you throw a pot of boiling water of a balcony it will turn into snow because it is so cold!
I enjoyed getting a henna tattoo.
I was most fascinated by the building in Russia that is made of wood, but doesn't have any nails.

NOW WHAT

A question I have is…. why does China celebrate a new animal every year?
